iCardio Heart Rate Training App Reviews

Great...most of the time

Ok, I do love the app, and I am ok with the price of the dongle, and even the "subscription" model, but there is one thing that absolutely needs to be fixed. The app cannot and should not automatically shut off when the dongle is slightly dislodged from my iPhones dock. I have lost several full (or near full) workouts as a result of what can only politely be described as a "design flaw." Devs, please fix ASAP. I do have one minor other gripe. The weight chart. No matter how many data points I enter into the app, the chart does not change. The x and y axes are there, but no line graph at all. Ok, one more gripe. The music interface is sub-par. Why do I have to listen to a playlist? Why not just shuffle everything on my iPhone? Also, way too many button pushes are necessary to get music playing, and the buttons that do need to be pushed, like the "done" button in the far upper-right corner, are in awkward places, especially when the iPhone is in an armband. 3 stars for now, I will modify the review as updates are created.

What a motivator!

I have been using iCardio with my iPhone since early July. Been trying to burn off fat first by running for bursts up hills and walking down and now on my bike. Using iCardio has helped me not overdo which has been an age old problem. Now on bike, been following the Ride Your Way Lean program. Cant imagine how I would be able to do this program without iCardio and the bike mount that I already had that mounts my iPhone onto my handlebars. Two quick gripes because it is so great, why not hit perfection?: 1. when you hit pause, it should automatically save your workout up to that point. Pause should also allow you to answer a call or text. I have learned the hard way (with heartbreak over lost data) that I must ignore my phone while working out. Should not have to! 2. One of the absolute coolest features of iCardio is this bell that sounds when you move from one stage of your preprogrammed workout to the next. I love this! However, it only seems to work if my ringer is off on my phone. Why is that??

Great concept, needs work

I love this gadget but it needs a few fixes. The app does not let you to set your own zones. I bought this after I had a VO2 test to determine my personal heart rate zoned and unlike some heart rate monitoring watches, it only allows you to use the preset zones. This app is also a little buggy, crashes a lot and needs to do away with the opening screen that shows all if their other apps, it looks cheap.

Digit App

Great app, well worth the price, my main issue is it is not very multi-tasking friendly. For example, on the iPhone if I receive a txt message while the app is monitoring (iCardio) and I want to immediately reply, the application stops completely and I have to re-start when Im finished texting. Itd be nice to be able to leave the application and still have it continue to monitor your heart rate and calorie burn then be able to return to the application without it interrupting the monitoring of your workout. The other minor issue that comes to mind is the music feature. The app allows you to play music from your playlists, but you cannot select music by an artist unless you create a playlist by the artist. One last feature Id like to see is I have the app on both my iPhone and iPad. I would like to be able to share my workout data between the two devices, as it isnt convenient to take the iPad into the gym. The app does a good job of monitoring your heart rate and displaying the data graphically. At first I was fooled into thinking that it would monitor your activity for one hour as there is an automatic 1 hour clock in iCardio. The monitor continues to maintain everything beyond the hour. I use the Garmin chest strap heart rate monitor with the application, I havent had any issues with getting it to synch up with the digifit module or application.

app crashed

I started using the Digifit since last week. It worked fine twice but, since 4 days ago, the application tool on my iPhone 4 has crashed suddenly, without any command from my side. No data was storage and I lost all data. I used to: - Run - QuickStart - Outdoor - Without music / time - Device was in the armband - Without case or bumper - Cowbell auto - Dangle up or down I have received the support from Digifit and I expect to overcome it urgently.

Good concept, but lots of bugs

I am professional Software Quality Assurance Engineer specializing in healthcare mobile apps (iPhone, Droid and Win7 phone). Nice concept, but app is still full of bugs in almost every page, with missing buttons, crashes and locked-up screens. Product owners, dont push the buggy app to the app store because of some bogus deadline. Let the QA team do the work. $14 app should deliver bit more... Also, lack of basic custom settings: 1) What this app lacks the most, is to customize the fitness zones, and setting upper and lower BPMs for each zone, as well as edit and delete custom zones. Lack of this feature make usless app for me!!!! So, Project Managers...if you read this review, then increase priority on this feature. 2) Entering custom VO2 Max, currenty you can only set estimated value based on pre-defined fitness levels. 3) Some pages are too busy - need bit cleaner design 4) Audio features should not overtake the basic fitness concept. This is fitness app, not a jukebox. Overall, I like the idea, and will use the app as soon as missing features are in, and more bugs fixed. Thank you.

Works great.

I use a heart rate monitor when I use my cross country ski machine, and this gives me all the info I need. I wanted to upgrade from my wrist watch type display because it was hard to see while I was moving. Display is big and easy to read, plus the graph is cool. It was easy enough to set up.

Cool but not worth the price tag.

I believe this program is cool but having used this now for a week allot is to be desired from this 15 dollar app. 1. This program will not run in the background like other apps. 2. Its a very low quality feel. 3. Orientation cannot be changed when started what gives? If this app were to integrate to apps like myfitnesspal and or other health tracking apps "correctly" then we may deserve a higher price tag. There are plenty of low cost and higher quality apps out there.

App Review

I like the app functionality for the most part. The thing thats really missing for me is that I do interval training on a treadmill. Run until my heart rate reaches a certain point, walk until it goes down to a certain rate, rinse, repeat. This means that I dont have a specific stride. I would really like to be able to put in my distance to track long term. I can only do this right now if I turn on my GPS and workout outside. Not always practical in MN in the Winter!

Great for me

I use this app for when I walk and it works great with my ANT+ and GARMIN Heartrate Monitor. It helps me keep up my HR to work harder. As well, it has been fanastistic for my INSANITY workouts. I can see what days I work harder. I love it.

Crashes... A lot :(

I want it to work but it is finicky. Any multi-task makes it go poof.

Crashing app

I paid for the Icardio $15

Not worth the price tag!

This app does not support multitasking, so if you get so much as a txt while its running, you could lose your whole workout. Theres no way to resume a workout after the app crashes or manually edit a recorded workout (such as to add distance on a treadmill of elliptical). Aside from these major flaws, it does function OK -- but HARDLY worth the steep price!

Getting better all the time

Great worout tracking application! This application helps motivate me during my workouts! Graphs can be zoomed out to show trends over many months. Tracks not only your heartrate, but also pulse, blood pressure, and weight. Notes for each workout can be entered. One addition that would make this a 5 star app is if it would auto resume after losing connection with the sensor. I lose many workouts due to a momentary loss of signal. Currently, you have to hit a resume button before it continues recording your workout. Not very user friendly for people who are recording and not neccessarily looking at the app during thier workout.

The Bad List Is Endless

Oh where does one start?! First off, their registration system is buggy beyond belief. Halfway through registration it gets stuck. No point in trying to reset your password through their website as well. Total mess. Trying to activate the Foot Pod, a message pops up telling you to navigate to Purchase to "subscribe"... Ok, great. Where is that? Try using help? Nope, not there. What an utter and complete mess. Pity though, the app showed great potential but alas, dont waste your time. If you bought the app like me, just write off the $1.99 to another bad app lesson learned.

Best one out there

This is the best exercise app out there. Great options for customizing your specific heart rate zones, track calories being burned, great gps options. Get it!

Great App

Tried Wahoo Fitness and Pedometer Plus then this one and the date and web site info is exactly what Im looking for. EXCELLENT JOB. The only issue is when playing music on my iphone4 sometimes the interface that switches back and forth doesnt work correctly. Dont know how to fix cause I dont want to stop and reset after Ive already started running.

Great Fitness/Health App

This is a great all around app to use with external sensors (heart rate monitors, cycling, etc). It works great and is super easy to use. Its really easy to track your weight, blood pressure, and so much more over time in easy to see graphs. Great all around app for fitness and health!

Love it!

Great way to track your progress. Integrates with other fitness apps.

The only app I come back to

I would have given this app ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ but it seems like with every update there is a problem with syncing my HRM and My cadence monitor. Other that that is is the easiest to use with the best graphics by far. I have tried every app of this kind from polar to map my fitness, but I always find myself back using iCardio. I just love the look and ease of use. There customer support is pretty good to. With That said, I am a premium user. Keep up the good work digifit and Ill continue using your app.
